Blocked recording

I’m now in the middle of my exams and despite having 12 days off and being happy at the thought of having time off and revising, it seems to me as though I have spent too much of my time relaxing (and only around an hour of revision) and now I only have five days of my break left before I have more exams. Oh dear.

Some of the cast

Well, on Tuesday I went up to London, BBC Broadcasting House, to see ‘Blocked’ being recorded, a new sitcom pilot for BBC Radio 4, and it was pretty funny, starring David Mitchell, Lorna Watson, Poppy Rush and Chris Ramsey. It’s written by Frankie Boyle and could be quite successful, as the characters are believable and interesting, focusing on Felix and his wife Nettie who run a small theatre with their daughter and her boyfriend. Felix has writer’s block and, despite having previously been a successful and noticed writer, now longs to write something as good to get back into the business.

The recording contained good humour all the way through and the time went by surprisingly quickly, which was a shame as it was very enjoyable. This episode focused on a CRB inspector, pregnant dog and missing, potentially drunk child, so there was definitely enough going on for a unique story line.

With David Mitchell.001

I was able to meet a few members of the cast after, David Mitchell (as in the image above) who I have met once before and Chris Ramsey, who was really kind and talkative and had nice hair. 🙂

Although I really wanted to meet Poppy Rush, I didn’t catch her in time and so unfortunately wasn’t able to. Hopefully, however, a series will be commissioned and I will get the chance to see them again, as I see no reason why there wouldn’t be a series as it was very popular with the audience and seems to have potential.

Last day of Year 11

The other day was my last official day of secondary school and I’m now on study leave, having just over half of my exams left. I’m surprisingly sad about leaving, realising just how much I’m going to miss school and even the people I hardly spoke to. It’ll be weird next year when I won’t be studying with the same people I have for five years!

The last day of school was relaxed and fun, as everyone took a load of selfies and signed and drew dicks on shirts. Although there were two exams the next day, people chose to ignore this fact and make the most of the day. It was pretty emotional, with some people in tears and everyone saying their goodbyes.

Year 11 last dayIt seems such a shame to be leaving, but I’ll still see people at exams and prom, so it isn’t a proper farewell just yet!

And now I have 12 days off of school with no exams, which’ll be fun. Hooray!
